What a class looks like

Each class is a dialogue between imagination and thinking, making creativity a bridge for exploring self and world. Children explore diverse art materials in a safe, non-judgmental environment. Teachers integrate theory, sensory exploration, and diverse art materials for creative healing. Classes incorporate art history appreciation, master work study, copying practice, and thematic creation. Teachers are trained to recognise emotional expression in children's work and provide appropriate support.

Curriculum & Progression

Structured curriculum

Structured curriculum built on three world-class frameworks: (1) Harvard's 'Artful Thinking' fostering observation, interpretation and reflection; (2) US K12 'Elements of Art & Design' building visual language, composition and colour foundations; (3) Art Therapy Principles integrating emotional growth and self-expression. Five-stage developmental framework with 100+ materials and techniques. Rooted in Taiwan, refined in Beijing, adapted for Hong Kong. Yellow Dot introduces perspective and composition through master work appreciation and copying practice, helping children build modeling abilities and confidence.

About

90-minute art class for children aged 7–9 years (Transformation Period). Focus: from 'wanting to draw like this' to 'wanting to draw better'. Introducing basic techniques like perspective and composition, through appreciating master works and copying practice, helping children build modeling abilities, overcome frustration, and accumulate confidence. The programme integrates three world-class educational frameworks: Harvard's Artful Thinking, US K12 Elements of Art & Design, and Art Therapy Principles. Students explore 100+ materials and techniques with bilingual Mandarin-English instruction from founder Po-Ting Chen (MA Plastic Arts, National Taiwan Univ of Arts, 10+ years experience) and registered art therapist Dorothy Go (ANZACATA, VP HK Assoc of Art Therapists, MA LASALLE Singapore).

Before your first class

Arrive 10 minutes early to settle in. Wear comfortable clothes that can get messy. The trial class lets you experience how the studio teaches children not just how to draw, but how to see, feel, and think through art.
